Before you can begin quoting or selling a destination, you train on that destination. To do that, you need to be registered as a travel agent with Destination Magic. 

You do not need to register will all suppliers, only the ones you intend to sell. It is better to be an expert in a few than dabble in many. 

Registration and Supplier Training

Each supplier has their own registration process and training

For some, like Disney, you self-register, and then we need to approve your registration before you will have access. For others, you can register yourself by using our CLIA number. (If you self-register at a site but do not get immediate access, be sure to alert the agency so we can approve you).

This is where you will go to research, quote, and book travel with each vendor. Some sites, such as Disney, offer training, marketing tools, and other resources. Be sure to exp

Training Website

Some vendors, like Universal, have a different site where they offer training. Often, these sites offer more than just training. Explore each supplier site to see what they offer and how you can take advantage of that.

Facebook

Some vendors have a Facebook page dedicated to travel professionals. You can follow and repost things from there. You can often find additional posting assets on the training site.

Media

Some suppliers have sites where they provide images and pre-created offer posts. It is important to note that there are strict usage guidelines that must be adhered to if using images, especially for those provided on DisneyCopyright.com. Be sure you read and understand the guidelines before using those images.

Our current suppliers are divided into sections based on the type they are.

Preferred suppliers

While you have several options with whom to book with, there are definitely suppliers that are preferred and recommended over others, for example:

  • ALWAYS book all Disney travel direct through Disney including cruises and good neighbor hotels. There are rare occurrences when you could book a good neighbor hotel outside of Disney. One reason would be if a client wanted to use or earn membership rewards with a particular hotel chain.
  • ALWAYS book Universal Studios travel directly with Universal. All those bookings are made via Vax Vacation Access.
  • Other vacation packages should be booked via Vax Vacation Access whenever possible. Our preferred supplier within Vax is Funjet. They specialize in the Caribbean but also offer fight and hotels around the world and within the US. Increased sales with Funjet will increase commissions overall. 
    If you have a booking in Hawaii, use Blue Sky in Vax. They specialize in Hawaii.

Tips and best practices

Only use the agency’s official information

When speaking to your suppliers (Walt Disney Travel Company, Disney Cruise Line, etc) never give your home address or phone number. Always use your CLIA number and agency address.

If you use any other information you could change the agency profile. This can only be corrected in-writing by the Travel Agency and will hold up bookings.

Take it advantage of complementary holds

Once you have spoken to suppliers you can put a vacation on hold for your client. This is strongly recommended to avoid a price increase loss of availability. As space sells out, prices change.

Pay attention to the details

ALWAYS GET THE CORRECT SPELLING OF YOUR CLIENTS NAMES. Airline tickets cannot be changed. Cruise line packages must match a valid passport or birth certificate and photo ID. These documents are also almost impossible to change once money has been put on a reservation. YOU WILL BE RESPONSILBE FOR THE NEW TICKETS OR CHANGE FEES IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE.

Ask your clients for the correct spelling of their names as it appears on their Government Issued Photo ID. It is a simple question that will save you a lot of time and trouble.

Handle client’s financial information more securely than your own

When a client is ready to make a deposit, or any type of payment, you will be making those payments on their behalf.

You are responsible for collecting all of your clients payment information.  You only act as the middleman and process payments to the suppliers. No payment is ever to be made to you personally.
